​​​​​​​Bhubaneswar, Sept 10: A local court in Bhubaneswar awarded life-imprisonment to two individuals for kidnapping a private company executive in Bhubaneswar in 2015.

As per reports, the Additional District Session Judge-3 Himansu Sekhar Mallik sentenced two kidnappers, identified as Raghunath Maharana and Kalucharan Maharana, to life imprisonment for the abduction of Rabindra Barik, an executive of a private company.

The kidnapping took place in June 2015 along Kargil Road in Bhubaneswar's Airfield police area. The accused kidnapped Barik over a long-standing dispute and demanded a ransom of Rs 7 lakh for his safe release.

After the abduction, Barik's father filed a police complaint, prompting a detailed investigation that eventually led to the successful rescue of the victim. The cops also nabbed the kidnappers and forwarded them to the court.
