
Tamil Nadu, Sept 28: The Tamil Nadu government on Sunday constituted a Judicial Commission to probe the TVK Vijay rally stampede, took place at Karur yesterday.
According to reports, retired High Court judge Aruna Jagadeesan has been appointed by the state government for a detailed inquiry into the Karur stampede.
With the govt’s order Justice Aruna arrived in Trichy, to probe the tragic incident wherein at least 39 lives were lost and scores became critical.
Worth mentioning, a stampede at an election rally of TVK leader Vijay in Karur yesterday killed 39 audience including women and children who gathered to witness the ace actor- turned-politician Vijay, who is also a socialmedia influencer and youth icon.
Responding to pressers, such incidents should not occur in future, says retired Madras HC Justice Aruna Jagadeesan, following her appointment to lead the judicial inquiry on the mishap.
On the otherhand, the Tamil Nadu CM grieving over the loss of several lives said, "The commission has been set up to address shortcomings. Incidents like this should not occur in the future, and the necessary remedial measures will be taken."
