Hyderabad, August 6: A wedding celebration turned into a heartbreaking tragedy in Somendepalli mandal of Penukonda, located in Andhra Pradesh's Satya Sai district, after a 22-year-old bride allegedly died by suicide just hours after her wedding.

The deceased, identified as Harishitha, a resident of Somendepalli, was married to Nagendra from Dibburipalli, Karnataka, on Monday morning in a grand ceremony. According to initial reports, the incident occurred later that evening at the bride’s home, where preparations were underway for the couple’s first night together.

Nagendra had reportedly gone out to buy sweets. Upon returning, he found the room locked. When Harishitha did not respond to repeated calls, concerned family members broke open the door and discovered her unresponsive. She was immediately taken to the Penukonda Government Hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival.

The shocking incident has left both families devastated. Authorities are yet to determine the reason behind Harishitha’s death, as there were no apparent signs of distress during the wedding celebrations. Photographs from the ceremony show the bride smiling and seemingly at ease.

Police have registered a case and launched an investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident. The body has been sent for postmortem, and statements are being recorded from both families to ascertain any possible motives or contributing factors.

Further details are awaited as the investigation continues.
