Details of the Discovery

Police were alerted around midnight on Monday to a car parked under suspicious circumstances outside a house in Sector 27. Emergency Response Vehicles arrived to find seven individuals inside, most in a semi-conscious state. The victims were identified as businessman Deshraj Mittal, his wife, their son Praveen Mittal (42), Praveen's wife, and Praveen’s two teenage daughters and a son. All seven were rushed to nearby Ojas Hospital and the Civil Hospital, Sector 6, but were declared dead by medical personnel.

Financial Distress Suspected as Motive

According to police, the Mittal family, originally from Dehradun, Uttarakhand, and residing in a rented house in Panchkula, owned a tours and travels business that had reportedly suffered significant losses, leading to heavy debt. This financial burden is believed to be the primary reason behind the family's tragic decision. A suicide note was reportedly found inside the vehicle, citing overwhelming debt and the patriarch taking responsibility. Some reports indicate the family had attended a religious event in Panchkula earlier on Monday. One of the last conscious members reportedly told a local resident about the suicide pact due to debt before succumbing.

Ongoing Investigation

Senior police officials, including Panchkula Deputy Commissioner of Police Himadree Kaushik and Assistant Commissioner of Police Vikram Nehra, promptly reached the scene and the hospital. A forensic team has collected evidence from the vehicle and the surrounding area. Authorities are conducting a thorough investigation, examining all aspects of the case and are in the process of contacting extended family members.

This incident in Panchkula has brought to light the tragic consequences of extreme financial pressure. As police continue their investigation to confirm the exact circumstances, while those acquaintance are yet to come to terms with the loss of an entire family in this mass suicide.
