According to sources, four students from a private school had visited the ghat near Uparasahi in Nuagaon for a bath. Three of them entered the river and were caught in the swift current. One managed to reach the shore, while the other two were carried away.

Bhubaneswar, August 15: A tragic incident unfolded on Friday at the Dalakhaai Ghat in Nuagaon under Dhauli police limits, where three minor boys were swept away by strong river currents while bathing in the Daya River. While one of the minors managed to swim to safety, one body has been recovered and another remains missing.

According to sources, four students from a private school had visited the ghat near Uparasahi in Nuagaon for a bath. Three of them entered the river and were caught in the swift current. One managed to reach the shore, while the other two were carried away.

Emergency response teams, including police and fire services, rushed to the spot and launched a search and rescue operation. Divers recovered the body of one student, identified as a Class 8 pupil. Efforts are underway to locate the remaining missing boy.

Local authorities are continuing a high-intensity search operation as the incident has raised serious concerns over safety measures at unregulated bathing spots along the river.
