Rourkela, June 1: At a time when the NIA is worried to trace out tons of explosive looted by Maoists in Odisha’s Sundargarh district, the Rourkela Police on Sunday seized two explosive-laden trucks near a petrol pump in the Steel City.
The trucks were allegedly carrying at least ton of illegal explosives under suspicious circumstances which were seized near Balighat petrol pump under Raghunathpali police limits.
According to sources, more than eight tonnes of explosive materials were found in the two trucks.
The Raghunathpali Police, Mining department officials, and GST authorities rushed to the site and began investigating the contents and origin of the trucks.
Authorities are now probing the source and intended destination of the explosive-laden trucks.
Further investigation is underway to ascertain the sources of the explosive whereas the NIA is working on it to rule out its connection with the K.Balang heist where the Maoists suspectedly looted over 4 tons of explosive from the Sundargargh forest.
