Deogarh, May 28: Tension prevailed in Dudhianali village under Tileibani block of Odisha’s Deogarh district after angry villagers allegedly tied electricity department employees to an electric pole over prolonged unscheduled power cuts.

According to reports, the village has been without electricity for the last four days due to damage caused by the recent Kalbaisakhi storm. Despite repeated complaints by residents, power supply had not been restored, leading to growing resentment among villagers.

On Wednesday, three electricity department employees reached the village to repair the damaged power line. However, irate villagers detained the workers and allegedly tied them to an electric pole, demanding that senior officials visit the spot and address their grievances.

Villagers alleged that the prolonged disruption in electricity supply had severely affected crop cultivation and vegetable farming in the area, causing significant losses. They claimed that repeated appeals to the authorities had gone unheard, forcing them to resort to such drastic action.

After receiving information about the incident, Kansar outpost police along with officials from the electricity department reached the village and held discussions with the locals. Following assurances from the authorities, the villagers later released the detained electricity workers
