Bhubaneswar/ Kolkata, May 4: Suvendu Adhikari, leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, has strongly criticized the use of surplus sacred wood from Puri’s Jagannath Temple for carving deities at a newly built temple in Digha, West Bengal, calling it unethical and a violation of Jagannath traditions.

BJP leader Adhikari has accused the West Bengal government of misleading devotees by naming the structure “Jagannath Dham Cultural Centre” in official documents while promoting it as a temple.

Adhikari welcomed the Odisha government's probe into the issue and questioned the involvement of certain servitors and officials, calling their actions disrespectful to Jagannath culture.
