Mumbai, May 7: Indian star batter Surya Kumar Yadav and his wife Devisha Shetty have announced the arrival of their baby girl. Sharing the joyful news on Instagram, Yadav wrote,“With giggles, bows, and dreams to unfurl – we welcome our baby girl.”
Yadav, who captained India to a T20 World Cup title in 2026, was absent from the first batch of MI players who traveled to Raipur for the team’s upcoming IPL clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Sunday. He had also led MI in their previous match against Lucknow Super Giants. Mumbai Indians and teammate Deepak Chahar extended their heartfelt congratulations to the new parents.
The 35-year-old cricketer has often credited Devisha for her pivotal role in shaping his career. He recalls a defining moment in 2018, when Devisha posed a straightforward question:“If you want to play for India, how do you plan to do it?”That candid conversation, as Yadav describes, motivated him to take the extra steps necessary to achieve his national call-up.
Reflecting on his journey, Yadav shared during a podcast with PTI Videos:"We got married in 2016 when I was still playing for KKR. Everything was going smoothly. By 2018, when I joined the Mumbai Indians, she asked how I planned to reach the top. It wasn’t an argument, just a discussion about taking one extra step toward my goal."
Following that talk, the couple made significant lifestyle adjustments—from diet and social circles to rigorous training schedules—which eventually paid off. Yadav had a standout IPL season in 2018, scoring 512 runs, and continued his rise with consistent performances in 2019 and 2020. His dedication and Devisha’s unwavering support culminated in his selection for the Indian team in 2021.
Now, as they welcome their daughter, the couple celebrates not only a new chapter in life but also the partnership that helped Yadav reach the pinnacle of cricketing success.
