Dhenkanal, March 20: In a tragic incident, took place in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district, a seven-year boy was killed under the debris of a wall after an elephant stepped on it.
The mishap came up at Ragadishai village under Sorisiapada Section of the Kapilas Forest Range at late night on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Akash Hembram, son of Tapan Hembrab.
Sources said, Hembram’s family members were fast asleep in their house. Meanwhile, an elephant strayed from the Kapilas forest and broke down the wall of the bedroom. As a result, Akash came under the debris of the collapsed wall and succumbed to injuries on the spot.
On receiving the information, Forest range officials, and police reached the village and recovered the child’s body.
After an inquest, the body was sent to the Dhenkanal District Headquarters Hospital for post-mortem.
