Social dogmas yet in force: Two youths in Koraput declared dead, arranged mock cremation as they observe crows mating!

Koraput, July 31:Odisha’s Koraput district that treasures lush greenery and some rare tribes across decades is now infamous for some social evils and dogmatic practices.
A few days to the scene featuring yoking two love-birds like bullocks that went viral on social media, the home to tribals, has declared two youths dead who are actually alive, as they witnessed mating of crows before them.
The dogma was not limited in beliefs, but the duo was carried on bamboo-hearses to the graveyard and arranged their mock cremation, to beat the anticipated evils.
According to sources, the two youths while at their homes witnessed the rare sight of two crows mating. As it is believed by locals to be an ominous sign foretelling death and harbinger of many a misfortunes, the locals adopted the age-old practice as the only panacea to get rid of the sureshot death.
As instant remedies, family members of the duo immediately began post-death rites, announcing the youths dead and prepared for their cremation.
The two men were escorted to the cementory and symbolically consigned them in the pyre. Following a slew of rituals linked to the blind practice, the youth were allowed to back homes.
