Mumbai, February 25: Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi criticized the BJP's focus on the CAG report on the Delhi excise policy, highlighting that numerous similar CAG reports about the central government since 2014 have gone unaddressed.

She expressed concern over politics being played with such matters, emphasizing that if a CAG report raises issues, an investigation should follow. Chaturvedi pointed out that past reports on coal and spectrum allocation, among other schemes, showed corruption, but no serious discussions have been held.

Meanwhile, the BJP lashed out at the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), with Delhi BJP leader Virendraa Sachdeva accusing Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal of being involved in the excise policy scandal. BJP leader Manoj Tiwari claimed that Kejriwal used his power to block the CAG report from being presented in the Vidhan Sabha and blamed him for a Rs 2,000 crore scam.

The CAG report, tabled by Delhi BJP Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, highlighted financial discrepancies in Delhi's excise policy between 2017-2021, revealing that the state suffered over Rs 2,000 crore in losses. The report also noted the Excise Department's failure to adhere to regulations, with licenses being issued improperly, without checking key requirements like financial solvency and criminal records.
