Bhubaneswar: A year after its release, King Khan aka Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan made a debut in Japan. The film grossed an estimated Japanese Yen 18 million equivalent to $120K or Rs 1 crore over its opening weekend.
After its release in Japan, Jawan has now overtaken Pathaan’s USD 47.90 million to become the highest-grossing Indian film internationally (excluding China).
Even as King Khan’s big opening day weekend has been in the same range of pan India star Prabhas’ Saaho and Salaar, Jawan was unable to hit the RRR benchmark of opening weekend.
Oscar winning RRR from SS Rajamouli’s stable with Jr NTR and Ram Charan in lead roles grossed Japanese Yen 45 mn in its opening weekend. The SS Rajamouli helmed film had a life time collection of JPY 2.4bn.

SRK’s another all time blockbuster Pathan was earlier released in Japan and the film had a opening weekend of JPY 14 million, JPY 4mn less than Jawan.
JAPAN CINEPHILES RAISE A TOAST FOR JAWAN
In Japan box office, SRK’s Jawan may sustain for long given that audience have rated the film very positively. Yahoo Movies rated Jawan 4.6. Elig gave a rating of 4 and Filmarks put a rating of 4.2. However, all eyes on the footfalls in the coming days and weeks.
It remains to be seen will SRK's Jawan get past the 3 -Idiots of Aamir Khan, which collected 10 cr in two weeks?
