Bhubaneswar, May 24: Police uncovered a sex racket operating out of a hotel on Binika Road in Subarnapur district.

Acting on a confidential tip-off, police conducted a late-night raid on Saturday and rescued five women allegedly involved in prostitution. Seven customers found in different rooms of the hotel were also detained during the operation.

All those detained were taken to the Sonepur police station for questioning. Police are currently investigating the identities and backgrounds of the rescued women, including their hometowns and how long the alleged activities had been taking place at the hotel.

Officials said the raid was strategically carried out during a power outage in the area, allowing the team to maintain the element of surprise. Several objectionable items were also seized from the premises as part of the investigation.
