Tianjin, Sept 1: The Member States of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) strongly condemned the ghastly Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed lives of 26 civilians, and stated that its perpetrators must be brought to justice.
"The Member States strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on 22 April 2025. They expressed their deepest sympathy and condolences to the families of the dead and the wounded. They further stated that perpetrators, organisers and sponsors of such attacks must be brought to justice," reads the declaration.
Before PM Modi's departure for China to attend the much-anticipated SCO summit, the Ministry of External Affairs stated that India anticipates a strong condemnation of the deadly terror attack.
India had advocated for the condemnation of cross-border terrorism in the joint statements and documents to be adopted by the 10-member SCO bloc. Notably, Pakistan is also a member of the SCO, alongside countries like Russia and China.
India has consistently voiced its strong criticism of terrorism and those who harbor it. At the SCO Summit, a key part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's address was his firm condemnation of terrorism, along with his assertion that “no double standards” would be tolerated in this regard.
