Samrat Choudhary to be new Bihar CM; Swearing-in ceremony likely on Wednesday

Bihar, April 14: Following the resignation of Nitish Kumar as Bihar Chief Minister, Samrat Choudhary is going to be next CM, Bihar as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced it today.

Samrat Chaudhary as the next Chief Minister of Bihar is going to lead the state government. Meanwhile, Choudhary has been elected as the leader of the BJP Legislative Party after Nitish Kumar left the Lok Bhawan, Bihar this afternoon.

Samrat’s swearing-in ceremony is likely to take place on Wednesday in Patna.

A prominent OBC leader and current Deputy Chief Minister, Samrat Chaudhary’s elevation signals the BJP’s strategic push to consolidate its social base in Bihar ahead of upcoming electoral battles. Party leadership finalised his name after internal consultations, with central observers overseeing the transition in Patna.

Nitish Kumar resigned to pursue a seat in the Rajya Sabha after being elected. This decision marked a significant shift in Bihar's political landscape, leading to the BJP assuming control of the government with Samrat Chaudhary as the new Chief Minister.
