Bhubaneswar: The Sahid Sporting Club and host Rameswar Sporting scripted a winning start in the inaugural matches of the opening day of the 8th Rameswar Cup Junior Cricket U-15 League 2026. In memory of late Smt Kamala Parida and Shri Amarendra Prasad Bal here on Sunday.
Friends Club won the toss and elected to field first. Aditya Mishra’s 45-ball 75 runs powered the Sahid Sporting Club to gather a massive 223 for 6 in 25 overs. He was well supported by Omm Nayak and Suraj Dhal with 56 and 44 runs respectively.
In reply, Omm Nayak, Abhigyan Samal and Swadhin Jena of Sahid Sporting pocketed two wickets each to bowled out Friends Club for 13 runs and scripted a 210 runs win. For the all-round performance Omm Nayak of the winning team was adjudged as the man of the match.
In the second match of the day, winning the toss, Greens Cricket Club scored 125 for 7 in 25 overs with James Lima contributing 75-ball 65 runs. In reply, Leoneel Mehar of the host Rameswar Sporting smashed a 46-ball 70 run and guided the team to reach the winning target in 15 overs for the loss of four wickets. Also adjudged as the man of the match.
Tournament was inaugurated by Suresh Kumar Routray (Ex Sports Minister), Samir Mohanty (President, Odisha Olympic Association), Dr. Sourjya Ranjan Parija (Secretary, Bhubaneswar Athletic Association), Chandra Sekhar Mallia ( Corporater) Radhanath Mohapatra( Vice president, Bhubaneswar Athletic Association) and the Rameswar Sporting Club members including secretary Deepak Mangaraj, joint secretary Priyabrat Pradhan, Paresh Patel, Chandan Nayak, Debi Prasad Mohanty and Rajesh Mohanty.
