Baripada, June 7: The sacred Rukmini Vivah ritual was solemnised with traditional fervour at the Shri Shri Haribaladev temple in Baripada, popularly known as the Second Srikhetra of Odisha.

The divine wedding ceremony of Lord Jagannath and Goddess Rukmini was performed as per age-old customs and rituals on the auspicious occasion of Ekadashi in the bright fortnight of the month of Jyestha.
The celebration, which draws parallels to the grand rituals of Puri, also took place at both the Bada Jagannath Temple and the Sana Jagannath Temple in Baripada, adhering to established traditions. The event saw large gatherings of devotees who participated in the divine nuptials with great devotion.
On Thursday, the Rukmini Harana ritual was conducted, symbolising Lord Jagannath’s divine journey to bring Rukmini. On Friday, the much-awaited Rukmini Vivah was held following the symbolic offering of patadei by Goddess Lakshmi.
Following the divine wedding, the newly-wedded deities Madan Mohan and Rukmini are scheduled to embark on a grand Nagar Bhramana on the next day, Dwadashi, which is popularly known as the Guali Yatra. This procession is considered one of the most beloved and vibrant parts of the annual ritual calendar.
The Guali Yatra is set to take place on Saturday evening, and anticipation is running high among both devotees and temple servitors. Special rituals and floral decorations have been arranged within the temple premises to mark the occasion.
The entire wedding ceremony of Lord Jagannath and Goddess Rukmini was conducted with spiritual devotion and ceremonial splendour, drawing hundreds of devotees to witness the divine union and seek blessings.
