Bhubaneswar, Sept 29: A driver was detained after a Rs 4.77 lakh cash was recovered from a car in Bhubaneswar City late at night on Saturday.
The Chandrasekharpur Police seized the car with the hefty amount of cash and quizzed the car driver who was intercepted in a drunken condition.
Sources said the PCR team of the Chandrasekharpur police was patrolling on the road. Meanwhile, they stopped a car near the OMFED square from which Rs 4.77 lakh cash was discovered during the stop & check operation.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as Dibyajyoti Nayak.
“We have registered a case at Chandrasekharpur police station. The driver is being interrogated regarding the sources of the unaccounted amount”, said Police Commissioner, Sanjeev Panda.
