Retaliatory Iranian Strikes Target American Warplanes in Jordan

Tehran claims retaliatory missile strikes destroyed American jets in Jordan

Iranian forces announced they successfully hit United States military aircraft based in Jordan using drones and ballistic missiles. Officials from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps state these attacks destroyed several American fighter jets and refuelling planes. This military action serves as direct retaliation for recent overnight American strikes targeting locations inside Iranian territory.

Escalating Regional Confrontations

Washington recently expanded its military operations to pressure Tehran into releasing its grip on the Strait of Hormuz. This vital waterway handles roughly a fifth of global oil trade, making any disruption a major threat to international energy markets. Both nations broke a temporary ceasefire agreed upon last month. Currently, they are exchanging heavy fire across the region. Jordan's military reported intercepting three missiles over its airspace without any resulting casualties.

Unverified Claims Spark Concern

American authorities have not yet confirmed these latest claims regarding destroyed aircraft. According to Iranian state sources, their retaliatory barrage forms part of an operation dubbed "Nasr 2". Tehran reported that previous American strikes caused eight recent deaths, pushing their total casualty count past 35 fatalities. Furthermore, Iranian forces urged Jordanian citizens to act against American interests within their borders. These rapid developments fuel fears of a wider war breaking out across the entire region.
