Rayagada, Aug 31: The counting of donations deposited in the hundi of the famous Maa Majhighariani Temple in Rayagada has begun under tight security arrangements.
Around 300 women from different social organisations are participating in the counting process. The hundi is being opened and counted after nearly two months, in the presence of officials from the Revenue Department.
This time, all the money collected from the donation box will be deposited in Union Bank of India. Bank officials are also present at the temple during the counting process.
According to the temple management trust president, the donated funds will be utilised for the development and maintenance of the temple, as well as various social welfare activities.
During the previous counting, the temple hundi reportedly yielded ₹1.22 crore in cash, along with 32 grams of gold and 1.3 kg of silver. An additional ₹3.97 lakh was collected through the temple's UPI scanner.
The counting of the donations is currently underway, with authorities maintaining strict security throughout the process.
