Puri, June 25: The Director General of Police (DGP), Y.B. Khurania, announced on Tuesday that Odisha Police has completed all security preparations for the much-awaited Jagannath Rath Yatra, which will commence on June 27 in Puri.
After a meeting with police officials, DGP Khurania briefed the media, emphasizing that all arrangements are in place, including traffic management, security inside and around the temple, crowd control, and the protection of the chariots. He also highlighted security measures for the coastal areas.
"For the first time this year, an integrated command-and-control system has been set up," Khurania said. "Live feeds from approximately 275 AI-enabled CCTVs, installed from Uttara Square to Puri Town, and from Puri to Konark, will be streamed to this system. These live feeds will also be available at sub-control rooms at various locations. Police officers will use this system to monitor traffic movement and make real-time decisions based on the situation."
In total, 200 police platoons have been deployed throughout Puri to ensure a smooth and secure Rath Yatra. Authorities are confident that the enhanced security measures will contribute to the successful and peaceful conduct of the annual event.
