Rain likely across Odisha till July 5, Heavy showers expected in several districts

Bhubaneswar, July 2: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast widespread rainfall across Odisha till July 5, with several districts likely to witness heavy to very heavy showers. Northwestern Odisha and its adjoining districts are expected to receive particularly intense rainfall during this period.
On Wednesday, many parts of the state are likely to experience light to moderate rainfall, while Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Sundargarh districts may witness heavy to very heavy rain. Devgarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sambalpur, and Bargarh districts are also under the radar for heavy rainfall.
The rainfall activity is expected to intensify on Thursday, with very heavy rain forecasted in Jharsuguda, while Bargarh, Nuapada, and Balangir have been placed under a rain alert.
Dr. Sarat Chandra Sahu, Director of the Center for Climate and Environment, stated that a cyclonic circulation may form over Jharkhand around July 4, which could enhance rainfall over both Jharkhand and western Odisha on July 5.
