
New Delhi, Sept 23: The prestigious 2023 National Film Awards will be presented today in a grand ceremony at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi. President Droupadi Murmu will confer the awards on the winners, whose names were announced earlier on August 1, 2025.
Among the prominent awardees this year are Bollywood stars Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukerji, and Vikrant Massey. Veteran Malayalam superstar Mohanlal will be honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, the highest recognition in Indian cinema, for his outstanding contribution to the film industry.
Shah Rukh Khan will receive the Best Actor Award for his performance in the blockbuster film "Jawan", while Vikrant Massey will also share the Best Actor honour for his role in the critically acclaimed "12th Fail". Rani Mukerji has been named Best Actress for her powerful portrayal in "Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway".
The Best Feature Film Award will be conferred on "12th Fail", which has garnered widespread acclaim. Director Sudipto Sen will receive the Best Direction Award for his controversial yet impactful film "The Kerala Story".
The awards ceremony is scheduled to begin at 4 PM today. As with previous years, the event will be held at Vigyan Bhavan, though this edition marks a return after a two-year delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In addition to the major awards, several others will be presented across various categories to honour excellence in Indian cinema.
