Puri, Jun 11: Preparations are in full swing for the rare and sacred Gajanan Besha of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Goddess Subhadra on the occasion of Snana Purnima at the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri, Odisha. The special ritual, considered highly significant in the temple tradition, will be observed with elaborate arrangements and strict adherence to customary practices.
The Gajanan Besha is performed after the ceremonial bathing of the deities during Snana Purnima, where the Holy Trinity is adorned in elephant-like attire. Devotees believe this divine appearance symbolises Lord Jagannath’s incarnation as Lord Ganesha, attracting thousands of pilgrims who gather to witness the rare darshan.
Temple authorities and servitors are making detailed arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of the rituals, including crowd management and security measures.
The administration has also coordinated with various departments to facilitate uninterrupted darshan for devotees during the auspicious occasion.
