Puri, Sept 8: The sacred Pralambasura Badha ritual will be observed at Srimandir on Tuesday as part of the ongoing Sri Krishna Leela rituals of Lord Jagannath.
As part of the ritual, Lord Balabhadra will enact the slaying of the demon Pralambasura. A special attire will also be offered to the deities on the occasion.
The rituals will be conducted at night at the Srimandir after the completion of the evening Sandhya Dhupa ritual. Lord Balabhadra will be adorned in a special Pralambasura Badha attire on the Ratna Singhasana, holding His traditional plough (hala) and mace (musala). A representation of Pralambasura will be placed below the deity.
Following the completion of the second Bhoga Mandap ritual, the Mailam and Sarvanga rituals will be performed, after which the special attire of the deities will begin.
Members of Dolamandap Sahi will also participate in the ritual by portraying the characters of Pralambasura, Lord Rama and Lord Krishna, adding to the traditional enactment of the sacred Krishna Leela.
