Bhubaneswar, July 20: A massive six goals haul by Prakash Nayak powered Paradeep Port Trust to thrash Puri by 9-2 goals in the league round match of the 64th Senior Men Inter-district Football Championship for Sahani Cup at Kendrapada Zone on Saturday.
Nayak’s strikes came in the 30th, 36th, 60th, 73rd, 85th, and 90th minutes, earning him a rare double hat-trick and making him the undisputed star of the match. The Paradeep side dominated the game from start to finish, leaving Puri struggling to cope with their pace and coordination.
Meanwhile, in another high-scoring encounter at the Berhampur Zone, Birsingh Naik’s rapid-fire hat-trick (15’, 17’, 26’) powered Mayurbhanj to a thumping 9-0 win over Raygada. The Mayurbhanj attack overwhelmed Raygada’s defense in a lopsided contest that showcased the team’s attacking depth.
