Kolkata, May 9: Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore on his 165th birth anniversary at Kolkata's iconic Brigade Parade Ground, where the swearing-in ceremony of the BJP government in West Bengal is scheduled to take place.
Earlier today, the Prime Minister arrived at Kolkata's iconic Brigade Parade Ground was also seen waving at the public upon his arrival at the venue.
Suvendu Adhikari, who was elected as the leader of the BJP Legislative Party in West Bengal, is set to take oath as the state's first BJP Chief Minister today Brigade Parade Ground in the presence of PM Modi, BJP national president Nitin Nabin, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and a host of Union Ministers and Chief Ministers of BJP ruled States.
BJP leaders on Friday extended their wishes to Suvendu Adhikari after he was named the Leader of the BJP Legislature Party in West Bengal and is poised to take the oath as the next Chief Minister of the State, following the party's victory in the 2026 Assembly elections.
BJP has won 207 seats in the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections, while the Trinamool Congress (TMC) secured 80 seats after ruling the state for 15 years.
