New Delhi, May 4: Over 22.7 lakh students are expected to appear for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Undergraduate (NEET-UG) 2025 scheduled to today amid tight security.
As per reports, the medical entrance test will take place at 5,453 centres in over 500 cities nationwide.
Following controversies last year, including claims of paper leaks and cheating, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has strengthened its security measures.
A three-level monitoring system will be in place at the district, state, and exam centre levels to ensure everything runs smoothly and fairly.
Most exam centres this year are in government or government-aided schools, colleges, and universities. To maintain transparency, the NTA has issued clear instructions along with admit cards and exam city slips.
Students must follow all rules strictly. Anyone caught cheating, impersonating someone else, or using unfair methods may have their results cancelled and be banned from NTA exams for three years.
The NTA has also warned students not to trust unofficial sources or people who claim they can influence exam results or admissions. “Students should only rely on official updates from the NTA’s website,” the advisory stated.
This year’s stricter rules aim to restore trust in the exam after last year's controversy, which led to public outcry and legal investigations due to issues like inflated scores and grace marks.
Since the exam is scheduled for the afternoon during peak summer, the NTA has asked authorities to make sure all centres have basic facilities such as drinking water, electricity, portable toilets (if needed), and emergency health services like first aid and ambulances.
