New Delhi, December 16: A significant 16,71,606 electric vehicles have been sold so far, while 6,862 e-buses have also been sanctioned under the PM E-DRIVE scheme.
India has now set up 29,151 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations nationwide, with 8,805 of these being fast-charging stations and 20,346 classified as slow-charging stations, the government informed Parliament on Tuesday.
In a written response to the Lok Sabha, Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Varma, the Minister of State for Heavy Industries, highlighted that the government has allocated Rs 2,000 crore under the PM E-DRIVE Scheme to expand EV charging infrastructure across the country.
The second phase of the FAME (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles) India scheme, which is scheduled to run until March 31, 2024, has a total financial outlay of Rs 11,500 crore.
