Fresh satellite images reveal another active monsoon rain spell
Recent satellite data confirms that another active monsoon spell is developing over eastern India. Latest INSAT-3DS thermal infrared images reveal extensive convective cloud formations stretching across central regions and coastal zones. This newly observed weather pattern shows that current southwest monsoon season holds plenty of energy for additional rainfall.
Weather System Intensifies Quickly
Officials from the India Meteorological Department noticed a well-marked low-pressure zone forming rapidly. They recorded this system over the northwest Bay of Bengal and nearby West Bengal-North Odisha coastlines at exactly 2:30 pm IST on August 16. Forecasters predict this formation will concentrate into a designated depression by August 17 as it moves in a north-westerly direction. Odisha and neighboring coastal states routinely experience intense weather fluctuations during these late summer months, making such timely meteorological updates crucial for local safety. This developing weather system will push significant moisture deep into the Indian mainland, reviving rainfall across several northern and central regions that recently experienced drier conditions.
Coastal Warnings Issued For Fishermen
Coastal districts will face the most immediate and intense impacts from this incoming moisture wave. Meteorologists predict squally winds reaching speeds of 40 to 50 kmph, with sudden gusts peaking at 60 kmph. These dangerous wind patterns will affect the northwest and west-central maritime zones between August 16 and 18.
Because sea conditions will remain rough to very rough, authorities have issued strict safety advisories. Officials strictly advise fishermen to avoid venturing into waters off the coasts of West Bengal, Bangladesh, Odisha, and north Andhra Pradesh throughout this critical window. Weather models indicate the main monsoon trough will continue shifting southwards, ensuring widespread showers across eastern parts of the country for the coming week.
