Bhubaneswar, May 14: Commissionerate Police have arrested as many as 80 drug peddlers between January and April 2024 in Bhubaneswar under its ‘Operation White Spider’, informed DCP Prateek Singh today.
Of them, 35 have been apprehended on charges of smuggling brown sugar. Several incriminating materials including 352 grams of brown sugar, Rs 3.5 lakh cash, 11 mobile phones and 13 two-wheelers have been recovered from their possession and seized.
It is worth mentioning that the ‘Operation White Spider’ was launched by the Bhubaneswar Urban Police in August 2021 to tackle the illegal narcotic and alcohol trade in the capital city.
The cops have issued a WhatsApp number (7077798111) and appealed the public to provide information about illegal drug trade in their region through this. They have assured that the identities of the people sharing details in this regard will be kept confidential.
