Odisha: Woman killed, husband critical as oil tanker truck hits motorcycle in Dhenkanal

Dhenkanal, May 27: In a tragic incident, a woman was killed and her husband sustained critical injuries after an oil tanker truck hit their motorcycle on National Highway-55 close to Odisha’s Dhenkanal town this morning.

The deceased has been identified as Lucy Khuntia (20), a resident of Barhihapur village under Parjang block.

As per reports, the couple along with their 1.5-year-old baby boy child was on their way to Shree Jagannatha Temple in Puri when an oil tanker collided with their bike from the rear around 7:30 AM near the Anand Nagar area on NH-55.

Under the impact of the collision, Lucy died on the spot and her husband Rashmiranjan Khuntia sustained serious injuries. He was admitted to the Dhenkanal District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) for treatment. Fortunately, their son escaped unharmed in the accident.

Upon getting the information, police arrived at the spot and seized the truck. The cops also seized the victim’s body and sent it for post-mortem.

Further investigation into the matter was underway.
