
Bhubaneswar, Aug 31: In a horrific incident, a woman was allegedly gang-raped by five men in a car in Udala area of Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on Saturday.
Police have detained two persons in connection with the crime and launched a probe into the incident.
According to reports, the woman, a resident of the Bangriposi area in Mayurbhanj, had recently met one of the accused during a local festival. The man allegedly promised to help her find a job. On Saturday, he and a friend picked her up from her village in a car. While traveling along the Udala-Balasore state highway, three more men joined them during the journey.
Thereafter, they took her to a secluded place and took turns to rape her.
Fortunately, the victim managed to escape from the clutches of the attackers and make her way back to her village. Her family then filed a complaint with the police.
Acting on the complaint, police launched a manhunt to apprehend the remaining three suspects.
