Bhubaneswar, May 26: The Odisha Samaj UAE successfully organized the 16th edition of Utsav – Utkal Diwas 2026 on May 24, 2026, in Dubai, bringing together more than 600 Odias and guests from across all Emirates of the UAE. The grand celebration showcased the unity and cultural pride of the Odia diaspora in the region.
The event was graced by Chief Guest Pabitra Kumar Majumder, Consul (Consular, MADAD & RTI) and Head of Chancery. The celebration highlighted Odisha’s rich cultural heritage, including its music, dance, traditions, and artistic expressions, reflecting the strong cultural bond within the overseas Odia community.
The formal proceedings began with Dipa Prajwalana followed by a soulful rendition of Bande Utkala Janani by Vivek Mohanty. Odisha Samaj UAE President Amiya Mishra welcomed the gathering and emphasized the importance of preserving Odia identity and cultural values among younger generations born and raised abroad.
The cultural segment featured a vibrant lineup of performances, including Odissi and semi-classical dances, Mahari dance, and engaging presentations by children. The evening also included live musical performances by guest singers Bernali Hota and Sashank Sekhar, along with talented local artists. A special tribute was paid to popular Odia singer Humane Sagar, adding an emotional highlight to the event.
One of the key moments of the celebration was the release of the Odisha Samaj UAE magazine, which documented the journey, achievements, and identity of the Odia community in the UAE.
The event concluded with a note of gratitude extended to all volunteers, performers, and participants, marking yet another successful edition of Utsav for the 16th consecutive year.
