Bhubaneswar, July 20: The 15-year-old girl, who sustained severe burn injuries after being allegedly set on fire by three miscreants in Nimapara block of Odisha's Puri district, will be airlifted from Bhubaneswar to Delhi AIIMS today for further treatment.
According to sources, the family members of the victim are in discussion with the medical team at Delhi AIIMS.
The victim’s brother said that communication between the medical authorities in Bhubaneswar and Delhi has been successfully finalized, and preparations for the airlift are currently underway. He informed that all coordination with AIIMS Delhi is complete and she will be airlifted today.
Hospital officials confirmed that the girl remains in critical condition, with 70-75 percent deep burns covering her limbs, back, and torso. Although she is not on a ventilator, she continues to receive oxygen support and is being treated in the Burn ICU.
Head of the Burn Unit at AIIMS Bhubaneswar Dr. Sanjay Giri stated that the medical team is in constant touch with AIIMS Delhi regarding the victim’s condition.
He mentioned that while she is responsive, the severity of her burns remains a major concern and assured that her treatment is ongoing with close observation.
Earlier yesterday, AIIMS Bhubaneswar constituted an expert committee for the management and monitoring of the treatment of the victim.
