Odisha: Narrow escape for driver & staff as 108 ambulance catches fire

Khordha, Aug 12: The driver and other staff of a 108 ambulance had a narrow escape after the vehicle caught fire late in Banapur area of Odisha’s Khordha district late last night.

As per reports, the mishap took place on Banapur main-road under Nachuni police limits when the ambulance was returning to Gamhari Munda Community Health Center (CHC) and it suddenly caught fire.

The driver, along with the other staffers, managed to escape the ambulance just in time before the fire spread rapidly.

The fire was so intense that the ambulance exploded and was completely damaged, with parts of the vehicle scattered up to 150 to 200 feet away from the accident site.

Upon getting the information, Gamhari Munda police along with fire fighters arrived at the scene and initiated an operation to douse the flames.

No casualties were reported in the mishap as both the driver and other staff had managed to escape unharmed. However, the cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
