
Bhubaneswar, Sept 24: In a tragic incident, a woman and her four-year-old son died after reportedly being bitten by a venomous snakebite in Bonai sub-division of Odisha’s Sundargarh district in the early hours of Wednesday.
The deceased have been identified as Tulasi Kulu and her four-year-old son Avinash.
As per reports, the incident took place at Badachua village under Mahulpada police limits in Bonai when Tulasi was sleeping along with her husband Rath Kulu and their young son Avinash at their home. A venomous snake bit Tulasi and Avinash at around 3 AM.
Upon discovering the incident, Rath Kulu immediately rushed the mother-son duo to Bonai Sub-Divisional Hospital for treatment. Tragically, Kulu’s son Avinash was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital, while his wife Tulasi was referred to Rourkela Government Hospital for further treatment. Unfortunately, she passed away on the way.
After getting the information, police arrived at the hospital and seized the bodies. Subsequently, they were sent for post-mortem.
It is worth noting that a total of 12 persons have died due to snakebites in Sundargarh district alone in the last two months.
