Bhubaneswar, March 13: Odisha witnessed its hottest day of the season as temperatures soared beyond 40 degrees Celsius in multiple cities. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Jharsuguda recorded the highest temperature at a blistering 41.4°C, making it the hottest place in the state.
Hirakud and Sambalpur also sizzled at 40.1°C and 40°C, respectively, while Rourkela experienced a sweltering 39.5°C, said weather scientist Umashankar Dash.
The capital city, Bhubaneswar, recorded 38.2°C, with Chandbali and Balasore not far behind at 38°C and 37.5°C, respectively. Despite being the coolest among the listed locations, Keonjhar still registered a significant 37.1°C.
With rising temperatures, the IMD has advised residents to take the necessary precautions against heatwave conditions.
