Bhubaneswar, August 15: Odisha celebrated its 79th State-Level Independence Day at Mahatma Gandhi Marg, Bhubaneswar, where Chief Minister Mohan Majhi hoisted the national flag and took the salute during the ceremonial parade.
Addressing the public, CM Majhi reaffirmed the government’s zero-tolerance policy on women’s safety and organized crime, stating that no offender—regardless of power—will be spared. He said the police have been empowered to act firmly, and any negligence in protecting women will face legal action. He also identified the illegal drug trade as a key contributor to rising crime and pledged stricter enforcement.
Looking ahead, the Chief Minister announced plans to transform Odisha into India’s Pharma Hub. A Pharma Conclave will soon be held to attract leading domestic and international pharmaceutical companies. The initiative is expected to generate over 2.5 lakh jobs in the state.
