Bhubaneswar, July 13: A cyclonic circulation took shape on Monday over the north Bay of Bengal which is likely to lead to the formation of a low pressure area over the north-west bay off the Odisha-Gangetic West Bengal coast, the Centre for Environment and Climate (CEC) of SOA Deemed to be University here said.
This may cause moderate to heavy rainfall across the northern and western Odisha districts, particularly over the catchment areas of Subarnarekha, Budhabalanga, Brahmani and Baitarani rivers spread across Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Angul, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Cuttack, Kendrapara and Khurda districts between July 14 and 17, a CEC bulletin said.
Light to moderate rain with isolated heavy rainfall was forecast for Monday.
