Nuapada, June 22: A land dispute turned fatal in Kurumunda village under Beltukri police limits in Odisha’s Nuapada district after a man allegedly killed his father.
While the deceased has been identified as Paban Singh Bariha (60), the accused is Tularam Bariha (36).
As per reports, a heated exchange of words ensued between the father-son duo over a land dispute on Saturday afternoon in the farmland. It later took a violent turn when Tularam, who was reportedly in an inebriated condition, attacked Paban with a stick in fit of rage.
He sustained grave injuries in the attack and died on the spot. Thereafter, the accused left his father's body in the farmland and returned home.
The matter came to light when locals spotted his body this morning and alerted the police.
Upon getting the information, Belatukuri police arrived at the spot and recovered the body. Subsequently, it was sent for post-mortem. The cops also detained the accused son for questioning.
Further investigation into the matter was underway.
