Cuttack, June 8: In an unfortunate incident, the bodies of a young woman and man were found hanging from the ceiling of a closed room in Mahanga area of Odisha’s Cuttack district.
The deceased persons have been identified as Chinmayee Bhoi (25) of Balisahi and her lover Devendra Munda (aged around 25) of Ramakrushnapur in Salipur area of Cuttack.
Sources said that Chinmayee worked as a female health worker at the Raisunguda Primary Health Centre (PHC) and had been in a relationship with Devendra for several years. The couple had been staying in a rented accommodation in Khandola village, under Mahanga police jurisdiction, for the past four days.
As per reports, the rented house was locked from the inside until late morning. When some villagers knocked on the door, they didn't get a response. Worried that something was wrong, Khirod Lenka, the house owner, informed the police.
Upon getting the information, police arrived at the scene and broke opened the door in the presence of local Tahsildar. Inside the room, the couple was found hanging from a ceiling fan inside the room.
The cops then seized the bodies of the victims and sent them to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack city for post-mortem.
An unnatural death case has been registered and a probe has been initiated into the matter to ascertain other details surrounding the deaths, said the police.
