Bhadrak, May 17: Odisha Vigilance on Saturday arrested a Junior Engineer (JE) for demanding and accepting bribe from a complainant.

The accused who has been identified as Ashok Kumar Dar, Junior Engineer of Basudevpur block in Odisha’s Bhadrak district has been nabbed while demanding and accepting a bribe amount of Rs 10,000 from a from a contractor to facilitate release of bills for works executed by him.

Accused Das refused to release the bill amount unless he was paid the demanded bribe. The entire bribe money of Rs. 10,000/- has been recovered from the possession of accused Das, JE and seized.

Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at four locations of Das on DA angle.

In this connection, Balasore Vigilance PS Case No 4/2025, U/s-7PC (Amendment)Act , 2018 has been registered. Investigation is in progress against accused Sri Das, JE. Detailed report follows.
