Gajapati, May 29: In an unfortunate incident, a home guard job aspirant died and another fell critically ill while taking a physical fitness test in Odisha’s Gajapati district on Thursday.
While the deceased candidate has been identified as Laden Mishai, a resident of Parisal village under Ramgiri police limits in the district, the critically ill candidate is P Shankar and he is currently undergoing treatment at the Parlakhemundi hospital.
As per reports, the physical test was held at Betaguda in Ranipeeth, where candidates had to run 2 kilometers from Ranipeeth to Padmapur. After finishing the run, Mishai suddenly collapsed on the ground. Following this, he was taken to the Parlakhemundi Main Hospital, where the attending doctors declared him dead.
Shankar, along with two other candidates, Arpana Pani and one unidentified person, were also taken to the hospital after experiencing similar health problems.
Notably, a similar incident occurred in Deogarh district on March 27, where a candidate died during the physical test for home guard recruitment.
