Bhubaneswar, Aug 5: In a significant step towards improving student healthcare, School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond announced on Monday that all students residing in hostels will be issued digital health cards. These cards will store comprehensive health records of each student, enabling better and timely medical care based on the documented data.
The announcement came during a departmental meeting with senior officials from the School and Mass Education Department, where discussions centered on enhancing the health and well-being of schoolchildren, particularly those staying in boys’ and girls’ hostels.
“The health cards will carry detailed medical histories of the students, which will aid in accurate diagnosis and efficient treatment,” said Minister Gond, speaking to the media.
The state government is implementing a range of initiatives aimed at strengthening healthcare access for students. Special focus is being placed on those residing in residential school facilities to ensure regular monitoring of their health status.
Additionally, the Minister stated that instructions will be issued to the concerned agencies to expedite the completion of hostel buildings that are either under construction or yet to be built in certain areas.
This initiative is part of the government's broader effort to prioritize student welfare and improve infrastructure and health services within the education system.
