Berhampur, Oct 20: A young man was allegedly beaten to death following a dispute over the construction of a house wall in Podamari village under Patapur police station limits in Ganjam district.

The deceased has been identified as Sudarshan Behera, a resident of Podamari village.

According to reports, a heated argument broke out between two neighbouring families over the construction of a wall. The dispute reportedly escalated into a violent group assault, resulting in Sudarshan’s death.

The two families had allegedly been involved in a physical altercation earlier as well, and the matter had reportedly reached the police. The deceased’s family has alleged that the earlier dispute was not taken seriously, claiming that the failure to address the issue contributed to the latest incident.

Upon receiving information, Patapur police reached the spot and launched an investigation. Police have reportedly detained several youths in connection with the incident.

The victim’s family has demanded swift action and strict punishment for those responsible. Further details are awaited as the investigation progresses.
