Malkangiri, Aug 1: Heavy rainfall triggered severe flooding in Chhattisgarh’s Narayanpur district, leaving several BSF personnel stranded after floodwaters entered their camps in the remote Abujmarh forest region.

The BSF camps at Sitaram and Balebeda were submerged late at night, with water reportedly entering the premises around 11 PM. Caught off guard by the sudden rise in water levels, several soldiers were forced to take shelter on rooftops and tree branches to save their lives.

After spending the night exposed to heavy rain, the stranded personnel were rescued the following morning by an Indian Air Force helicopter. However, their weapons, equipment, and other belongings remain submerged in the floodwaters.

A video circulating on social media shows a BSF jawan describing the difficult situation, saying that they had spent the night “sitting on rooftops and tree branches like birds” while trying to escape the rising floodwaters.
