Puri, Sept 15: In an unbelievable and dramatic turn of events, a woman who was declared dead miraculously regained consciousness just moments before her cremation at Swargadwar cremation ground in Odisha’s Puri on Monday.
As per reports, the incident involved 86-year-old P. Lakshmi from the Polasara area of Ganjam district. According to sources, her family had brought her to Swargadwar for last rites after being informed of her death earlier in the afternoon. The family arrived at the cremation ground in an ambulance, prepared to perform her final rites.
However, Swargadwar staff requested a medical death certificate before proceeding with the cremation. As the family had not brought the required documentation, the cremation was temporarily halted.
In a shocking twist, a while later, when staff approached the body again, they were stunned to find signs of life. The woman, who was presumed dead, had suddenly started showing movement—leaving both her family members and cremation ground workers in complete disbelief and amazement.
Following this, she was immediately rushed to the Puri District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), where she is currently undergoing treatment.
Her family members expressed a mix of shock and relief, saying it felt like a divine intervention.
Officials have not yet issued a formal statement, but hospital sources confirm that P. Lakshmi is alive and under observation
