Bhubaneswar, May 23: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi has rescheduled the government holiday for Sabitri Amavasya. Initially declared for May 27, the holiday will now be observed on May 26, 2025. The proposal for this change has been officially approved.
Earlier, the government had fixed the holiday for Sabitri Amavasya on May 27. However, after consultations with religious institutions, including the Puri Mukti Mandap and various traditional calendar experts and astrologers, it was confirmed that Sabitri Amavasya will be observed on May 26 this year.
Taking these inputs into account, the Odisha government has revised the holiday date to align with the actual observance of the festival.
